According to the General Department of Forestry (MARD), the export value of main forest products in the first 11 months of 2018 was estimated at US$ 8.49 billion, up 16.6% over the same period in 2017; accounting for 23.42% of the total export value of the whole industry.

Accordingly, wood and wood products were estimated at $7.22 billion, up 15.63% over the same period in 2017. The trade surplus of main forest products in 11 months was estimated at $6,398 billion. It is estimated that the export value of main forest products for the whole year will reach 9.3 billion USD. The export market of forest products is concentrated mainly in 5 markets including the US, Japan, EU, China and Korea, accounting for about 87.33% of export turnover of forest products.

Regarding imports, in the first 11 months of 2018, the import value of wood and wood products was estimated at 2.1 billion USD, up 6.17% over the same period in 2017. The main markets in the first 10 months mainly from 10 countries including: China, the United States, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Germany, Brazil, New Zealand, France, accounting for 61.5% of the import turnover of wood and wood products.

Information from the forestry industry also shows that, accumulated to November 20, 2018, the whole country planted 202,872 hectares, equaling 105% compared to the same period in 2017 (including the target of the replacement afforestation plan),  equal to 94.5% of the plan. In which: planting protection and special-use forests: 12,857 hectares, reaching 90.2% of the year plan, equaling 102.6% compared to the same period in 2017; production forests: 190,015 ha (newly planted 51,069 ha, replanted after exploitation 138,893 ha), reaching 97.1% of the year plan, equaling 108.7% over the same period in 2017.

In November, the whole country detected 1,022 cases of violations of the law on forest protection and development, a decrease of 77 cases (equivalent to a decrease of 7%) compared to November 2017; damaged forest area is 26.5 ha (of which, damage due to deforestation is 24 ha, forest fire is 2.5 ha), a decrease of 65 ha (equivalent to a decrease of 71%) compared to November 2017.

In the 11 months of 2018, the whole country detected 11,790 cases, down 3,697 cases (equivalent to 24% decrease) compared to 11 months of 2017; damaged forest area is 808 ha, down 597 ha (42% respectively) compared to 11 months of 2017.

It is estimated (according to area) that concentrated plantation forest exploitation nationwide in November is about 21,000 ha, equivalent to an output of 1.51 million m3. Accumulation from the beginning of the year is estimated at 17 million m3  (equivalent to 92% of the 2018 plan), an increase of about 4% compared to the same period in 2017.

According to statistics of the General Department of Forestry as of November 20, 2018, the whole country has collected VND 2,818 billion for PFES, reaching 121% of the 2018 plan and 170% compared to the same period in 2017 (revenue increased over the same period of 1,168 years). billion VND) of which: Central Fund obtained: 2,030 billion VND (reaching 121% of the plan in 2018); provincial fund: 787 billion VND (reaching 120% of the plan in 2018).
