Forest product exports increased by nearly 18% in the first 4 months of the year

The main export markets of Vietnam's forest products are still the US, Japan, EU, China and South Korea, accounting for about 87% of the total export turnover of forest products.

The Government website, citing statistics from the General Department of Forestry, said that the export value of forest products in April 2019 was estimated at 875 million USD, bringing the export turnover of forest products in the first 4 months of 2019 to be estimated at USD 875 million. 3.278 billion USD, up 17.8% over the same period in 2018. Trade surplus reached 2.488 billion USD.

The main export markets of Vietnam's forest products are still the US, Japan, EU, China and South Korea, accounting for about 87% of the total export turnover of forest products.

Regarding the import of wood and wood products, the import turnover in April 2019 is estimated at 210 million USD, bringing the total import turnover of wood and wood products in the first four months of 2019 to 790 million USD, up about 15.1% compared to the same period in 2018.

Currently, the main import market of Vietnam's wood and wood products is still mainly 10 countries including: China, the US, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Germany, New Zealand, France... accounting for about 60% of the price. value of import turnover of wood and wood products.

The General Department of Forestry also said that on forest protection, as of April 18, 2019, the whole country had detected 682 cases of violations of the provisions of the forestry law, a decrease of 458 cases (down 40%) compared to the previous year. April 2018; Damaged forest area is 66 ha, of which damage from deforestation is 48 ha, forest fire is 18 ha, down 20 ha (down 23%) compared to April 2018.

Accumulated from the beginning of the year to April 18, 2019, the whole country detected 3,151 violations, a decrease of 1076 cases (equivalent to a decrease of 25%) compared to the 4 months of 2018; damaged forest area 192 ha, down 58 ha (23% respectively) compared to 4 months of 2018.

Regarding forest development, by April 18, 2019, the whole country had prepared 189.2 million seedlings of all kinds for the 2019 afforestation plan; Concentrated afforestation has planted 29,436 hectares, estimated to plant 46,000 hectares by the end of April, reaching 21.6% of the year plan, equaling 101.72% over the same period in 2018.

Planting scattered trees has reached 13.7 million scattered trees of all kinds, it is estimated that by the end of April, over 15 million trees will be planted, reaching 26% of the year plan, equaling 96% compared to the same period in 2018...

It is estimated (according to area) that concentrated plantation forest exploitation nationwide in April is about 23,100 ha, equivalent to an output of 1.63 million m 3 . Accumulated in the first 4 months of 2019, exploiting about 88,300 hectares, the output is estimated at 6.23 million m3, reaching 32% of the 2019 plan, up 4.4% over the same period in 2018.

In total, up to April 18, 2019, the whole country has collected VND 755.24 billion, reaching 23.6% of the 2019 plan, equaling 109% compared to the same period in 2018.
